Favorite Foundation – FIT Me by Maybelline NY

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

HEY GUYS!

So for this post I just wanted to share with you my favorite foundation. I have always struggled with foundation because when I buy from drugstores or big department stores like Walmart I can’t find the perfect shade! It became very stressful for me so I decided to shop at places like Sephora, where I would have the opportunity to test the product before I purchased. The only issue with that is that IS EXPENSIVEEEE! *in one of my thousand accents* I went through a phase where I really liked the NARS brand, but it took me some time to realize that some products are simply NOT for me, and that I should move away from only purchasing a brand because I like it to actually purchasing products that are for me (skin tone, skin type, formula, etc).

(I’m not saying NARS is a bad product, it just isn’t for me. I do love their pencil lipsticks A LOT. I will do a review on my favorite lipstick soon!)

I had used Maybelline’s FIT Me foundation once before because I needed something ASAP and the closest Sephora to me is about 40 min away. I stopped by Walmart and I grabbed this because, well it was less than $6! I believe it runs for $5.94 at Walmart and I honestly couldn’t pass on it! I really liked it the first time I used it, but I got the wrong color. This second time around I grabbed the perfect color for my skin and lemme tell ya… I’VE BEEN BLESSED WITH THE PERFECT EVERYDAY FOUNDATION.

I am on the fair skin side with some olive tones (arms, legs, and basically the rest of my body), but I do have some red on my cheeks and on my nose. Because of this I was told that I needed to get something with a more pink undertone for my foundation.

I have found it to be really good on my skin because my skin is usually dry when I come out of the shower. I moisturize after the shower and allow it to set before applying any products on my face. My face tends to get really oily after a few hours of wearing makeup and it is sooooo annoying. I have to constantly tap some of the oil off and it’s really inconvenient. When I apply it I use either a brush or recently I’ve been applying with the EcoTools Blending Sponge and it is AH-MAZINGGGGG! I’ve found that my face doesn’t look as oily since it is a matte foundation.

I also started using the setting powder with the foundation. I used to not use this but I went ahead and tried it since I was told it could help with the oiliness..(is that a word?? it is now! HA!).

Here is a picture of me with the product on!

“Nude Beige, 125.”

I applied the foundation with a foundation brush this day, but I do prefer using the sponge when applying liquid foundation!

This is a product that I will definitely be repurchasing. It is hard for me to let go of my favorite brands, but ladies & gents, sometimes just because it costs more does not mean it’s better. Everyone has different types of skin and it’s important for you to find something that goes well with your skin type. I had to learn the hard way by purchasing expensive foundations, but I have found that this foundation is for me!

ECOTOOLS – Perfecting Blender Duo

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Hey guys!

Hope you are all doing great!

Today I wanted to talk to you guys about these new EcoTools blending tools. Now, I’m not a makeup artist. I’m not an expert in these but I saw these that many makeup artist that I follow are going crazy about these blending sponges. Some are saying that it’s better than…well, ya know! Because everyone is talking about these, I went ahead and bought some so that I could give them a try.

I have never used the Beauty Blender (cuz das really expensive!!), but I have used the Real Techniques sponge and I loved that one! I didn’t have any issues with the Real Techniques sponge, I actually really like it, but I figured, why not try something new right?

The first thing that I noticed about the EcoTools sponge is the fact that there are TWO sponges! I instantly became excited to see that you can get two in a package. I bought mine at Walmart and the price was $9.98. DAS NOT BAD! Now the RT does have two full size sponges for the same price, but there are a few differences between the two.

Here are some of the details on the EcoTools blending sponges:

It has two flat sides, a flat edge, and a round bottom.

The smaller sponge is perfect for concealing and baking underneath the eyes (more precise coverage). While the larger sponge is idea for the rest of the face.

dry sponges

Both of the sponges increase in size when they are wet (similarly to the other sponges). The packages does say that you can use these both wet and dry.

My thoughts:

“Wow…these are super soft!”

“Aww a baby sponge! How cute”

“I like the color.”

“Baby sponge is definitely a lot firmer than the mama sponge.”

I really like the sponges. I tend to have very dry skin when I come out of the shower so I really like items that help apply my makeup on smoothly and that cover the cracking that can happen if you have really drive skin and I found that the sponges do a good job of covering my face very well. I thought it applied my foundation beautifully and smoothly. I would definitely recommend you give it a try!

Leave your thoughts on the sponges below if you’ve tried them! I’d love to hear your experience with them or any tips on how you use them! 🙂

Life Update!!

Hey guys!

It’s been a very long time since I’ve posted. I got really busy with my senior year of college and was not able to be as involved with my blog as I wanted to. Here’s a quick update on what I’ve done and what my plans are. Hopefully now I will have more time to share some of the products that I really enjoy as I originally intended to do.

In the last year I became a mom to two precious babies. The black labs name is Lucy and the German Shepard’s name is Leonidas. They are both the sweetest pups anyone could ask for! They are about five months apart and Leo just turned one last month. They are very loving and are so inseparable. Lucy is extremely hyper and people tend to be intimidated by her because of her energy, but she is very sweet and wouldn’t hurt a fly.

Last week I graduated college. I attended a private Christian university and in Arkansas and it was quite the journey! During my senior year I worked at Tyson as a marketing intern and I got to learn a lot about the industry.  I graduated with a major in Marketing and a minor in Spanish. I am currently waiting to hear back on a job offer and hopefully I will be starting my career soon!

Here’s a picture of me on my graduation date!

I have recently picked up new habits and hobbies. I am trying to live a balanced life-style of both eating healthy, yet [[treating ma self]], cause ya know. It’s hard for some to go full on and be healthy! I have gone to a few yoga sessions recently and would like to make this a new hobby (as time permits).

For this blog I had originally intended sharing products that I love using. I will still continue to talk about those things but I also want to do some outfit inspiration posts as well as some motivational posts or stories that I hear from other people. I also have visited a few places (Chicago, New York, Branson) in the last few months and would like to share how I went about planning for those trips as well as including how I made these trips affordable.

Thanks for reading!

See you guys soon!

Kat Von D-Liquid Lipsticks

Lolita & Berlin

Hey there! It’s been a while since I’ve posted, so I’ll be doing two posts this week.

About a month ago I purchased my very first Kat Von D lipstick, “Lolita.” This color was actually recommended by one of my best friends. She had mentioned how it was one of her favorites so I decided to give it a try!

My first reaction was “oooo how smooth!” I love the way that the product went on my lips. It was smooth, and pigmented, and it didn’t dry my lips drastically. I usually just put one coat on, but I’ve done two a few times and it just makes the color look a little darker.

This chestnut rose mauve (matte finish) color looks great during the fall (and I’ve read a lot of reviews on how this is more of a fall color) but I’ve worn it in the springtime and it still looks great! I think it works well as a nude lipstick that can be dressed up or down. I’ve worn this lipsticks to interviews (professional attire) and to class (causal attire, white t-shirt, and tennis shoes). In my opinion there’s no limits to this lipstick. It’s a great everyday color!

Lolita (left) & Berlin (right)

The second color I purchased is called “Berlin.” I’ve been trying to transition into a coral color, but I’m having a difficult time just purchasing a coral without trying it first. Berlin is a warm rose colored with a matte finish. Similar to Lolita, Berlin is super pigmented, the quality is great, it goes on smooth and it doesn’t dry my lips. The consistency of the lipstick is very thin, I would recommend two coats on this color just to get full coverage. The product dries quickly, which keeps it from transferring.

One thing that I have noticed is that I have to reapply about every two and a half hours (an hour if I’m eating/drinking). I’ve noticed that after I’ve ate something the product begins to wear off faster than before. I am not a very careful person when it comes to food so this could possibly be my own fault! The edges of the lips are the only part that doesn’t come off easily. Sometimes when removing the lipstick I find it difficult to get it all off.

Overall I really love these lipsticks, they are worth the price, and so far have lasted me at least a month (and I wear Lolita a lot)! I’m looking into purchasing “Santa Sangre.” This is a red orange color. Another step closer to that coral!

If you’re looking for a great everyday lipstick, I’d give Lolita a try! If you’re not sure if mauve colors are your thing, try out Lolita 2 (light to medium skin tone). I personally haven’t tried this color, yet but if you have let me know what you think about it!

ColourPop – Liquid Lipsticks & Lippie Stix

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset
Left to right: Creeper, Scrooge, Poppin

Hello!

Have you heard of ColourPop?

I first heard of this company about a year ago. A friend from work was telling me about how excited she was to receive her Lippie Stix and how they were so affordable. I went home that day and searched them and at first I was a bit skeptical. In fact I was so unsure if whether or not the product would be worth it since the products were cheaper than the stuff I was currently purchasing.

A year after all this occurred, one of my best friends actually mentioned it and I gave in and purchased some. Since I was wanting to try out the matte look and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to invest a good chunk of money on something that I wasn’t sure if I was going to like, I decided to purchase a ultra matte liquid lipstick from ColourPop, and I was VERY impressed.

The quality of these products are a lot better than I expected. I was expecting the formula to be poor quality, not enough pigment, and for it to rub off easily. It was the opposite of all of these!

The Ultra Matte Lip is my favorite. The first color I purchased was Bumble. It’s the one that I have on in my picture. A few weeks ago I got two more and they were giving away a free limited edition lippie stix (far right) for spending at least $10.

Below are some swatches of the three that I received a couple of weeks ago.

image

From left to right and top to bottom:

Poppin’: This was the lippie stix that I received for spending at least $10. It is super pigmented! I don’t even have to fully apply. I simply rub my lips together after applying some on my bottom lip, and work my way around with what I already have on. It’s great. This has definitely encouraged me to try more of their lippie stix products!

Creeper: This is the PERFECT red! It’s super pigmented and it doesn’t come off easily. In fact none of the ultra matte lipsticks that I’ve purchased come off easily. The formula is GREAT. It’s not rough, or too dry. I believe every woman should have this color in their lipstick collection!

Scrooge: I really fell in love with the swatches that I found with this color, but when I tried it on myself it was a bit darker than I was expecting. I still love it, because again, it’s super pigmented, lasts a long time and it also makes my teeth look whiter!

I’m still struggling with figuring out a way how to apply these without it looking like my hand was shaking, because they dry super fast and it’s hard to remove without leaving an obvious stain on your face (I’m not the best with make-up though, so you may not have this issue)!

If you use colourpop and have a solution to this, leave it in the comments! I will greatly appreciate it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week! ❤

St. Ives Scrubs

Processed with VSCO with p5 preset

Hey there! Today I’m going to tell you about these two scrubs by St. Ives. I first used St. Ives apricot cleanser when I was 12 and I loved it. Growing up I had a really hard time finding a scrub that wouldn’t burn or irritate my skin (this product never did that). I recently repurchased the cleanser because I wasn’t really exfoliating my face as often as I should and I definitely needed to. So I decided why not try St. Ives again?

After using the cleanser for a few weeks I felt like my face felt smoother and less dry than usual. I have combination skin, with a lot of redness and it’s always hard to find something that doesn’t make my face look too greasy or too dry. As I was running out of the fresh skin product I started noticing the blackheads on my nose and I knew I had to do something about it. I went back to the store and found this green tea scrub for blackhead clearing and all I can say is

IT’S AMAZING!

First, the smell. It smells light and fresh!

Second, the texture. This green tea scrub has a different texture from the cleanser. The cleanser is more of your typical face scrub. The green tea scrub on the other hand has a gritty texture, which feels great when you’re rubbing it on your face!

Third, the scrubs are oil-free!

And last, the scrub has helped me get rid most of those blackheads. I was a bit skeptical at first because I’ve tried several scrubs and never got results to be excited about, but this truly helped! It’s still a work in progress. I’ve only been using the product for a week, but I can already see a huge difference.

Extra: This scrub doesn’t say it helps with pimples, but I have this spot on my right cheek that always breaks out and I’ve noticed that it actually reduces the redness and puffiness of the pimples in that area.

Thanks for reading!

Let me know your experience if you try it!

If you’ve tried St. Ives scrubs or any other product of theirs, let me know as well! 🙂

Biotin & Collagen

image.jpeg

Hey there!

This is the shampoo I use. 🙂

I’ve been using Biotin & Collagen for about 6 months now. It was recommended to me by a friend who said that it would help my hair grow faster. Let me just say that this product will NOT necessarily make your hair grow faster. The product clearly states on the bottle that it “creates the appearance of thicker, fuller, healthier looking hair” and that is indeed what it does.

I have medium to thick, straight hair and it tends to be on the oily side. I basically have to wash it everyday or else it will look like I haven’t washed it in weeks (SO jealous of girls who can go two or three days without washing their hair because this is supposed to be healthier for the hair).

The bottle contains 13 fl. oz. and costs anywhere from $5.56-$8 (depending on where you buy it from). One bottle generally lasts me about a month and a half.

After just a few days of using this product I noticed that my hair was in fact feeling thicker than usual. It made my hair really soft and it smelled AMAZING. The shampoo is a light lavender purple color and it’s thicker than your average shampoo.

**Because the shampoo is thick it is important for you to rinse very thoroughly. I was just doing the bare minimum and the amount of product build up that I had the next morning was ridiculous. I honestly felt like I hadn’t washed my hair in two weeks. I went to a hair salon to ask why I had so much build up and they recommended me to rinse for at least 4 minutes.

I also found that my hair looks better when I blow dry it (since my hair is thick it could be 6 to 8 hours before my hair completely dries). In occasions where I don’t dry my hair (which is most of the time because I usually let my hair air dry) my hair would have this wet look all day and by the end of the day I felt like I still had product in my hair. This wet look then led to a flat look at the top (which I’m not really a fan of).

Random Note: I felt like my nails grew stronger and thicker as well! (PLUS)

As of right now I am still using this shampoo. I just can’t get over how great it looks/feels/smells when I do have the time to dry it. I truly believe that this is a great product, but I think it’d be better for thinner hair. I might have to research the rest of their products to see which is best for my hair.

If you’ve tried this product let me know what you thought in the comments! I’d love to hear what it does to different types of hair.

Please include:

hair type, whether it’s greasy or not, the thickness of your hair and whether or not you like it or not.

Nike Air Structure 19

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset
New Kicks

Say hello to my new babies!

The first thing I’d like to say about these shoes is that they are very comfortable. I have a very arched foot and these shoes have enough cushioning to help stabilize my feet. It also has sufficient amount of support on the heel, which makes it feel like your foot is bouncing off the ground with each step! Even with all the cushion it has the shoe is very light. They’re perfect for long distance running.

The shoes run true to size. I am a size 6 in most shoes (except heels) and the 6 fit perfectly. The shoes are a bit wider than most of their other shoes. I went from the Nike Flyknit and I can definitely tell a difference, but since my foot is a little wide they give me the perfect amount of room while fitting snug in all the right places.

Lastly, these shoes look great! I love the design and the colors. Nike has provided a great selection of colors. I’m glad that the pair I got aren’t too bright and crazy. I tend to get the basic black and white, but I really appreciated the small pops of color that weren’t too overwhelming.

I plan on running my first half marathon race in these shoes and I am super excited. I will post an update of my thoughts on the shoes after the event.

Read about my experience when purchasing the shoes:

I purchased these shoes in a local business about 40 minutes away from where I live. The store is called “Rush Running” and it was an AMAZING experience.

When I walked in a representative came out as immediately asked me if I had heard of how they did things in their store. I told him that I had heard they would fit me into the right shoe for running. He said I was correct and had me take off my shoes.

He went to the back room and brought back a pair of shoes for me to slip on. They had me get on a treadmill and had me run for about 15-30 seconds. They then had me watch my steps and explained what I was doing right and what I should work on to avoid getting hurt.

After they analyzed how I ran they gave me some tips and brought back 3 different types of shoes that would help with my long distance running.

I got to try on all three and I got to run all around the store to see which was the best fit.

It was a wonderful experience! I would definitely recommend doing this simply for the experience!
